Abstract The past, present and future of the satellite magnetic survey have been dealt with in this paper. Magnetic satellites (Magsat, Oersted, CHAMP) and six satellite magnetic anomalies detected by the three satellites and related to tectonic units in the continental and sea areas of China are also described and compared with each other.
