Abstract Geochemical distribution of elements in the surficial media is not homogeneous, and a hierarchy of chemical patterns has been indicated by Xie Xuejin et al. (1993). It is commonly known that chemical elements not only serve as the components of biomass, but also take part in bioactivities in a variety of mechanisms. This paper makes a preliminary discussion on the environmental ecological effects of geochemical anomalies of different grades.
