Electrical and geochemical methods have long been proved to be two important approaches in prospecting for metallic deposits. Considering the presence of both electrical (electromagnetic) fields and geochemical anomalies around the same ore bodies, integrated application of these two methods is expected to enhance the reliability of their interpretation. Inference can be made on the possible mineralization of the source in the light of existence or nonexistence of ore-related geochemical anomalies. Geochemical data can help to identify electrical anomalies caused by such disturbing factors as man-made conductors, topography, water-bearing faults, graphite or pyrite. However, a main problem in the utilization of geochemical information is none other than distinguishing false geochemical anomalies from ore-related ones. The geochemical anomalies related to mafic-ultramafic rocks or geological bodies with high background content can be recognized in terms of their geochemical characteristics.
