Abstract Euler deconvolution is an important inversion method for the interpretation of magnetic and gravity anomalies. In this paper, some problems related to the practical application of Euler deconvolution have been examined in detail and the improved Euler method has been put forward by introducting three new criteria, i.e., horizontal gradients filtering criterion, distance constraint criterion and convergence constraint criterion.
