Abstract The characteristics, objectives,principles and tasks of ecological geochemical mapping have been elucidated in this paper according to information acquired abroad. The tasks of ecological geochemical mapping include rational land use and regional programming, investigation of environmental geochemical baseline related to human health,prognosis of mineral resources and researches on agricultural geochemistry.
