Abstract 3D seismic exploration has some problems, such as massive data, prolonged cycle between acquisition and processing and rapidly increasing costs. This paper points out that the utilization of both hign-speed network communication technology and wavelet data compression technology is a powerful means to solve such problems. The paper also deals with the economic benefit and prospects of this method.
