Abstract Importance has been attached to the study of primary geochemical negative anomalies.Especially in the former U. S. S. R., some geochemists summed up tab criteria for the application of geochemical primary negative anomalies to the exploration and evaluation of bydrothermal deposits. Nevertheless, due to the lack of a comparable method for classification negative anomalies, the study of negative anomalies oannct be spstematically carried out and the results are incomparable to each other. Sedies on the negative anomalies discovered in regional stream sediment survey, in particular, have been very insufficient. Based on the analysis of contrast value negative anomalies in several areas, this paper has dealt tentatively with the distribution of regional negative anomalies, the relationship between tha negative anomaly and the positive anomaly, and the geological sigaificance and prospecting information of negstive anomalies, summarized models for distribution of regional negative anomalies of single element and multiple elements, and established the ragional positive and negative anomaly models for gold ac copper deposits. It is pointed out that geochemical anomalies consist of positive anomalies and negative anomalies.
