A PERLIMINARY STUDY OF APPLYING RESISTIVITY PROSPECTING METHOD TO THE EXPLORATION OF SHALE GAS AND OIL SHALE RESOURCES

Abstract:The resistivity data obtained by the rock specimen method and logging method indicate that the organic matter-rich shale layers have relatively high even the highest resistivity values. The detection tests in the Hehiafang oil shale mining area and the Minhe oil gas basin mining area show that the organic matter-rich shale layer, whether it lies at the shallow depth ( shallower than hundreds of meters ) or in great depth (with buried depth of several kilometers), can be effectively identified by the resistivity prospecting method. This paper also points out that the resistivity prospecting method can play a good role in shale gas and oil shale exploration.
