Abstract With the hydrocarbon gas measurement technology as the leading means, in combination with some of the traditional trace element measurement techniques, the authors analyzed the distribution characteristics and temporal-spatial structure on the basis of establishing the geochemical anomaly zoning model and summarizing the ore-prospecting criteria for the Weilasituo zinc and copper polymetallic deposit and primary halo measurements of drill holes that control the depth of the ore body. The metallogenic evaluation of the deep part of the ore district was also made in combination with geological and structural characteristics. The results obtained by the authors show that there exists fairly good ore-prospecting potential in some deep parts of the ore district and that this new hydrocarbon gas measurement technology is suitable for the exploration of zinc-copper polymetallic deposits.
