Abstract The time domain finite difference technology was adopted to implement the 3D forward computation of the groundpenetrating radar and carry out the numerical simulation of the relationship between the water content of the media and the signal of the groundpenetrating radar. A comparison between the physical model test and the numerical simulation result has proved the effectiveness of the numerical simulation.
