Abstract In the mineralization concentration area with most crowded ore deposits and ore spots within the western North Qilian metallogenic sector along the Cuogou-Xiaochanggan ore belt, quite a few copper ore deposits and ore spots were discovered. These ore deposits (spots) are mostly massive sulfide ones with relatively high ore grade. Nevertheless, their ore bodies are comparatively small, and the prospecting for deep concealed ore bodies seems to be a rather difficult task. With representative practical examples, this paper has discussed characteristics of geophysical and geochemical anomalies in this area and the related ore-prospecting problem.
