Abstract The fluorescence spectral method is a sensitive, rapid and highly efficient technique for analyzing aromatic materials. With the help of the synchronous fluorescence spectral and 3Dfluorescence spectral characteristics, the attributes of oil and gas can be judged, the information of oil, gas and coal can be recognized, the information of oil and gas can be distinguished from that of mud pollution, and the accuracy of drill hole prediction can be improved. In some cases, the simple, convenient and easy synchronous fluorescence spectral analysis can be used in place of 3Dfluorescence spectral analysis, so as to attain the aim of "getting twice the result with half the effort".
