Abstract The present paper deals briefly with a new geophysical method, namely seismo-electromagnetic effect method, and a laboratory-used test device developed by ourselves, with examples given illustrating the utilization of this device to the analysis of rock and ore samples.Experiments show that the generation of seismo-electromagnetic signals is related to fracturing of rocks and ores, and seismo-electromagnetic signals of different rocks and ores have different frequency spectral characteristics. Therefore, useful information might be extracted by utilizing these characteristics.
