Abstract in 1993, geophysical exploration work for metallic deposits was forther reduced inChina and the amount of aerogeophysical work was only one third that of 1988. In contrast, theOil and gas geophysical exploration work was still growing, and the annual amount of continentalthree-dimensional seismic excploration exceeded 9000 km2. The hydrologic, enyineering and environmental geophysical exploration market remained prosperous, which promoted the developent ofrelevant techniques. New types of multi-functional shallow seismographs or engineering detectorswere unceasingly desired by many units. In-house computer processing, interprotation, simulation, display and software researches which were less subject to the restriction of fials as wellas some theoretical studies remained in progress and, as a result, some remarkable achievementswere gained. The international market projects undertaken by China increased to some extent;nevertheless, the total amount of work in this aspect remained very limited.
