Abstract This paper deals with such aspects of the airborne very low frequency (VLF) electromagnetic method as modes of its survey, data processing, and techniques for anomaly recognition in ridge topography. It is pointed out that the airborne VLF electromagnetic method is mainly usable in geological map ping and delineation of some geological structures such as contact zones, fau lts, fractural shattered zones and alteration zones, which are fairly noticeable in size but do not necessarily have very good conductance. Its application in Hebei and Shandong provinces has yielded pretty good geological results.
