Abstract This paper discusses the application of a spectrochemical method proposed by the authors, for the determination of ultratrace gold in regional geochemical reconnaissance including the supervisory control over sample preparation and analytical quality, and the precautions in operation. The absolute sensitivity of the method is 1 ng, sample weight being 10g.The coefficient of variation is 20-27% on determining o.n-n.10ppb of gold. Two thousand samples of various types have been taken for analysis. The 1142 stream sediment samples and 220 rock samples have furnished important information concerning the distribution of gold.
