Abstract The high density resistivity method was used to investigate coalfield goaf in a certain expressway construction site to obtain the visual resistance ratio 2D imaging drawing of the surveyed area.The anomaly and the high and low resistance of the 2D imaging drawing were analyzed, and the distribution area and burial depth of the underground goaf were inferred. It is concluded that the result is consistent with the drilling data, that the high-density resistivity methods are effective in detecting the coalfield goaf.
