Abstract This paper discusses two measurement methods for the total measurement, i.e., pulse-counting and Time-to-Count, and describes the working principles of these two methods as well as their advantages and disadvantages. Personal dosimeters which make use of these two measurement methods were designed. The advantage of Time-to-Count is reflected through a comparison of the performances of the two instruments.
