Abstract With central south Hebei plain as the study area, the authors studied geochemistry of fluorine in detail and explored its controlling factors. The results show that the fluorine content in central south Hebei plain is on the whole high, and the distribution is not uniform, having significant zoning characterized by four high and four low fluorine regions. The distribution of fluorine element in the area is significantly affected by physical geographic factors and artificial factors, with the natural geographic factors play the leading role. In the natural geographical factors, landscape is the main controlling factor, whereas in human factors, fertilizer seems to be the dominant factor.
