Abstract Based on the analysis and comparison of Chinese date and soil samples collected in the central part of the Taihang Mountains, this paper deals with the factors affecting the quality of highgrade Chinese dates in Taihang Mountain area, and points out the primary and secondary relationships of various factors affecting the growth of Chinese dates, such as structure, rock, soil, geochemical anomaly, climate, underground water and landform. Geological structures control the distribution of gneiss, which, in turn, is related to the growth of high-quality Chinese dates; areas with elevation lower than 500 m are suitable for the growth of high-grade Chinese dates, and the quality of Chinese dates is even better in areas characterized by elevation of lower than 200 m and distribution of gneisses, gullies, valleys and sunny slopes.
