Abstract In the Putian high-quality loquat producing area, the content of such beneficial and nutritional elements as N, P and K is suitable, and the content of harmful elements such as As and Hg is in accord with the environmental demand of the unpolluted fruit producing area. In the ecological system of soil-loquat, the variation regularity of total content and effective content of beneficial and nutritional elements is similar from the depth to surface (or from surface to the depth). In different organs of loquat (rootlet→shoot→leaf→fruit), harmful elements are enriched mostly in root, and subordinately in shoot, whereas beneficial and nutritional elements are enriched mainly in leaf, and their content obviously decreases in loquat fruit. The red soil with the pedogenic parent material being granite or intermediate-acid volcanic rock, especially granite, is relatively suitable for growing loquat.
