Abstract The development of the gravity gradiometer is described simply in this paper, and the measuring principle and development experience of the rotating accelerometer gravity gradiometer are emphatically discussed. On the basis of researches on the existing airborne gravity gradiometer, the prospects of the airborne gravity gradiometer are also presented.
