Abstract There are many magnetic anomalies found by aeromagnetic prospecting and ground magnetic exploration in the Qitianling tin-polymetallic ore area in Hunan Province. The right consideration of the relationship between the magnetic anomalies and the ore anomalies will decide the evaluation of the ore-seeking prospects and the arrangement of exploration projects. In the light of the statistic characteristics of the rock magnetic parameters, this paper discusses the problems concerning the application of magnetic exploration.
