Abstract Alkalescent granites and gold-related silication and argillation are geological prerequisites for the formation of noticeable gold deposits. Al, K and Sn are indicator elements for ore prospecting work in the Heicigou gold orefield and reflect rather objectively main ore prospect areas in the region. Nevertheless, such an element association is only suitable for arid and desert areas and high and cold mountain areas mainly characterized by mechanic weathering and transportation where coarse-grained stream sediment samples are collected.
