Abstract This paper describes regional rock chargeability data from the area at 114°~120° east longitude and 39°00′~42°30′ northern latitude. The average chargeability value of 798 sedimentary rock specimens is 2.4%, that of 1 149 igneous rock specimens is 2.99%, and that of 436 metamorphic rock specimens is 3.59%, which implies that the metamorphic rock might be the source of metallic ore deposits. In spatial distribution, coal fields are developed in the anomalies of high chargeability sedimentary areas; metamorphic iron deposits occur in the anomalies of high chargeability metamorphic areas; endogenic gold deposits are found in the anomalies of high chargeability igneous areas. On the whole, the main ore fields are consistent with areas of high chargeability anomalies.
