Abstract This paper gives an overall assessment of the eco landscape conditions of southern Jiangxi for the growth of tea trees. Based on systematic investigation of 13 typical tea gardens, the authors obtained data concerning elemental characteristics of rocks, soils and tea leaves. The provision grades of nutritive elements for tea tree growth were evaluated in accordance with their total and available contents. The tea quality was appraised by comparing it with Longjin Tea, and the relationship between tea quality and geochemical background was also discussed.
