Abstract Guided by recent geological theory and the idea of wavelet transform multi scale analysis, the authors formulated the method of logging and seismic data unit seismic trace multi scale inversion in which the logging and seismic data are used to perform seismic trace multi scale inversion. Theoretical and practical data show that this inversion technique is characterized by quick convergence rate, high inversion precision and high capacity of accomodation. To detect factors affecting seismic trace multi scale inversion, the authors used theoretical models and real seismic data and reached some important conclusions on the basis of changing input parameters and applying seismic trace multi scale inversion technique. The purpose of the research work is to improve the result of inversion.
