Vertical seismic profile (VSP) is an effective method for engineering geological investigation. The paper begins with the forward modeling problem based on character of the investigation and then discusses the technique and application effects of engineering VSPas examplified by the VSPinvestigation of the second tunnel through the Huangpu River in Shanghai. The utilization of downhole multi channel instrument and electrical spark source helps to carry out the VSPinvestigation. Double f-k filtering can effectively separate up and down going wave fields in date processing.
