Abstract This paper has mainly analysed the factors affecting the development of hydrogeochemical gold exploration. Opinions are raised on the study of such problems as separation, concentration and analytical techniques of gold in natural water, appraisal and interpretation of hydrogeochemical gold anomalies, and the application of hydrogeochemical gold exploration.
