Abstract This paper analyses geophysical prerequisites for gold deposits and withpractical examples describes the successful application of geophysical methodin the prospecting for gold deposits. The major achievements gained are: (1)discovery of enrichment zones (bodies) of gold-bearing sulfides; (2) delineationof host rocks or marker horizons; (3) exploration of ore-controllisg structures;and (4) division of hydrothermal alteration zones. In addition, a preliminarydiscussion is made on several geological-geophysical models for the prospectingof gold deposits.
