Abstract The comprehensive geochemical Oil-gas prospecting means the combinedutilization of various geochemical prospecting techniques and varied geocbemicalindicators. It evidently has much more advantages than the mere use of a sin-gle technique or a singe indicator, as is evidenced by our application of thiscomprehensive method in recent years. The soil △C method is a new technique. This paper first gives a discussion on the concentration distribution of △C inrelation to absorbed hydrocarbon and mercury, then describes anomaly charac-teristics of soil △C over the oil field, and finally deals with the application ofsoil △C in comprehensive geochemical oil-gas prospecting. It is proved that thesoil △C method is effective in the comprehensive geochemical oil-gas prospec-ting.
