Abstract High-precision micro-computer proton magnetometer is going to be adopted in magnetic survey work of China during the seventh five-year-plan period to replace the outmoded mechanical magnetometer.Nevertheless,what improvements in exploration results can be achieved by employing this kind of magnetometer? To probe into this problem,the author has made a detailed analysis in such aspects as the influence of precision of magnetic measurement on the result of magnetic measurement, the expansion of application sphere as well as the possibility and advantage of applying the multiparameter measurement.This paper also enumerates parameter diagrams of vertical gradient (TH), vertical quadratic gradient (THH), horizontal gradient (TX) and horizontal gradient of vertical gradient (THX) for several simple-shaped objects as well as-the patterns of these parameters, implying that the multi-parameter and measurement has the merits of simplicity, accuracy and reliability in qualitative quantitative interpretation of magnetic anomalies, and also shows some potentiality in the interpretation of complex anomalies.Some data obtained from three ore districts are taken as examples to illustrate the precision and geological effects of the high-precision micro-computer proton magnetometer.
