Abstract A systematical investigation of primary and secondary geochemical anomaliesaround the gold deposits in Shaoxing-Longquan uplifted zone, Zhejiang Provinceindicates that Au, Ag, Cu, Co, Hg, Pb, Zn, As, Te, Sb are main indicator elementsin the primary anomalies while Au, Ag, As, Hg, Te are indicator elements insecondary anomalies. It has been discovered that the distribution regularity, assemblage as well as vertical and horizontal zonation of these elements are con-trolled by their geochemical properties and by anomaly-forming conditions. Sixcomposite indicators are considered to be of practical significance in prospectingfor gold deposits in this area.
