Abstract The problem of controlling the wave velocity of model materials is a basic topic in the model seismic study. This paper presents some techniques for controlling the wave velocity of model materials used both at home and abroad and makes an comprehensive review on their effectiveness. From this discussion some regularities have been found out which are undoubtedly of some help in seismic studies.
