Abstract Some essential problems in geophysical prospecting techniques for sedimentary-metamorphic iron deposits are dealt with in this paper. They include the repui-rements for work of magnetic parameters under the condition of magnetic aniso-tropy of layered texture, the choice of working scale and the necessity for performing 1:2,000 ground magnetic survey on the exploratory ore district, the interpretation method for overlapping magnetic anomaly and the effectiveness of the integrated geophysical prospecting techniques.
