Abstract The application of hydride generation-nondispersive atomic fluorescence spectrometry in geochemical analysis is reviewed. Compared with its corresponding technique-hydride generation-atomic absorption spectrometry, theproposed technique has some obvious advantages, such as simpler instrumentation, less inert gas consumption, less gas phase interference and better suitability for simultaneous multielement analysis. Some problems concerning the future development of the technique are also discussed.
