Abstract Based on the experience gained in data processing in geophysical explora tion, the author has considered that there are at least eight problems in this aspect of geophysical exploration which deserve further investigation. They are: the study of specialized indicators; the design of specialized filter for definite transformation of field data; the method for separating an integrated anomaly and progressively obtaining information from it; the method for topographic correction; the errors form calculation; the effects of the finite length and discrete data on transformation and the way to avoid and eliminate these effects;the effects of the errors in primary data on the transformation result and the illustration of this result. All these problems have been examplified in this paper.
