Abstract This paper introduces the data acquisition and processing system of WD intelligent natural source surface wave designed and developed independently by Chinese researchers, which has changed the situation that the in-site instrument can only collect natural microvibration wave form record.Utilizing such techniques as large data calculation, sieving, stacking and normalization, this system has innovatively developed the direct demonstration of surface wave frequency-discretion curves of exploration results simultaneously with the acquisition of the micro seismic signal.During the signal acquisition, seismic source and human control are not needed. The equipment is installed on the ground, and can obtain transverse wave velocity curve of the strata within one hundred meters in 5~30 minutes and reflect the hardness of the strata.Test results in areas of different lithologic characters have proved that this system can divide strata rapidly and accurately. With the advantages of easy operation and high adaptability, this system provides technological guarantee for extensively applying the natural source surface wave exploration to the engineering exploration.
