Abstract For the reason that dual induction logging method will be affected by such factors as mud invasion and wall rocks, an improved genetic algorithm based on niche technology is proposed to perform inversion of virgin formation resistivity, invasion radius and other formation parameters. The multiple layered medium is set as model to conduct algorithm verification, The results can well reflect the formation parameters. With the actual dual induction logging data, the new interpretation drawn by the inversion of virgin formation resistivity is more close to the test data.
