Abstract Using 1:25000 high precision aeromagnetic survey data and ground gravity data collected in eastern Hebei area, the authors analyzed the characteristics of magnetic and gravity anomalies on both sides of Lengkou fault and,in combination with the characteristics of geology and mineral resources, explained the factors responsible for the aeromagnetic and gravity anomalies and their control over geological structures and minerals. The characteristics of magnetic and gravity anomalies and the caprocks as well as the intrusive rocks are significantly different on the two sides of Langkou fault,so the authors infer that the fault not only controls the geological structure but also indirectly controls the distribution of minerals. The results obtained by the authors provide certain basis for geoscience research and mineral exploration.
