Abstract In view of the difficulties in large-scale application of fitting local quasi-geoid surface to GPS height transformation in mountain areas, this paper puts forward an improved algorithm for GPS height transformation. The elevation abnormal difference equation based on gravity quasi-geoid geodetic height is transformed to normal height to realize GPS height transformation. Case studies demonstrate that the method is suitable for large-scale gravity exploration.
