Abstract Mudstone interlayer of Jintan rock salt gas storage constitutes a risk in cavity construction. How to identify the mudstone interlayer thus becomes a key problem in exploration. The mudstone interlayer distribution in this region is complex and the quality of seismic data is poor because of the influence of plasticity. As a result, it was hard to identify the mudstone interlayer accurately if only seismic data are used. Therefore, the features of seismic response and logging response of mudstone interlayer were analyzed, also the authors made a connection between gamma curves and seismic information, and carried out multi-parameters inversion. On such a basis, planar and special distribution features of mudstone interlayer were predicted. The application of practical data shows that multi-parameter lithologic seismic inversion can effectively reflect the features of mudstone interlayer variation.
