Abstract There occurs large-area mined-out and collapse district in a certain place along the high mountain section of the ‘Cloud' branch line. In order to guarantee the transport safety, the author conducted effectiveness test of the method following the principle of "from known to unknown" and determined the exploration method and work parameters. The d. c. high-density electrical sounding method characterized by high efficiency and good detection effect was mainly employed, with the assistance of transient electromagnetic method in some favorable places so as to further determine the limits and properties of the anomaly district. Practice shows the integrated application of geophysical exploration methods can guarantee the reliability of the interpretation result and improve the precision of geophysical interpretation.
