Abstract Due to the particularity of the 3D seismic exploration method, there is a large gap between the practical construction area and the controlled target full fold area demanded in the acquisition of 3D seismic exploration of the coal field. In cost estimation, however, the coal mine only takes the target area into account, which results in economic differences between the construction team and the coal mine.Aimed at solving this problem, this paper brings forward a method that reduces the construction area by ignoring some receivers under the premise of guaranteeing the full fold area in designing 3D seismic acquisition, which not only ensures the construction quality but reduces the cost of the construction team as well.
