Abstract The portable X-ray fluorescence analyzer was used to investigate the concealed ore body over the shallow Quaternary coverage area of the Shuitou fluorite ore district in Linxi County, Chifeng City. Based on an analysis of the data collected and a comparison with the known ore body, the authors have drawn the conclusion that the portable X-ray fluorescence analyzer is serviceable and can provide evidence for the prospecting of concealed fluorite ore deposits.
