Abstract The main content of natural analogue research of high level waste disposal repository is introduced in the paper. The major geochemical issues related to the analogue research including solubilities and speciation of radionuclides, migration rate of radionuclides in geosphere, impact factor and retardation of radionuclide migration are described in more detail. Meanwhile, the research results and recognition on the related issues are summarized.
