Abstract Aimed at solving the problem of the creditability of structure shape in trap evaluation, the authors have advanced the forward modeling for calculating such typical structure models as HQ, DY and BP in Lower Yangtze area by using the finite-element forward modeling technique of seismic wave. The result shows that this technique provides basis for structure determination and trap evaluation and eliminates one-sideness in the interpretation process.
