Abstract This paper describes the authors' experience acquired in applying ground-penetrating radar to lining test in tens of tunnels as well as the typical images obtained, and puts forward some problems that deserve attention in qualitative and quantitative interpretation of radar detection. It is pointed out that the merits and limitations of the current work and the method should be evaluated and publicized in a practical and realistic way.
