Abstract SM98 Rayleign wave instrument is a multi functional ibstrument for measuring elastic wave velocity of rock and soil bodies. It has such advantages as field rapid measurement, portability, and high precision. This paper describes the performance, principle and application of the instrument like expressway bed densification test, evaluation of effects of reinforcement processing of soft foundation, structural rigidity test of concrete and evalution of antiseismic performance.
