Abstract The present paper describes the process and result of using mercurometric survey to look for hidden orebodies in a polymetallic ore district. Mercury determination was made along nine experimental profiles over the known deposit, which reveals the existence of distinct mercury anomalies at the upper part or the front of ore veins. Mercurometric survey at the scale of 1:5,000 was conducted in the whole area, which led to the delineation of 29 anomalies. The drilling performed on some of these anomalies has detected orebodies at predicted positions.
